Banji is a fresh as f*ck Netherlands-based foursome. Listening to their songs, you might envision them as the musical embodiment of dangling necklaces, loose fit dungarees, 8-bit arcade and ironic thrift shop finds. The quartet has created its own hybrid of pop, R&B, wobbly synth-driven electro funk, distorted vocals and in your face licks. Banji’s look and feel in a few keywords? Playful, young at heart, colourful and rebellious. With debut single Listen – a joint production with Jeroen de Pessimier (The Subs, producer for Oscar & The Wolf), mixed by Mucky (Fresku, Sevdaliza) – the band birthed an anthem appealing to anyone with an ear for outspoken, catchy guitar melodies. The result of the above? A band that reaches audiences throughout many different genres. Support slots for DI-RECT, Balthazar and Vampire Weekend are the evidence of this diversity.
In this foursome I play multiple instruments and compose/produce songs with the other band members. It’s super motivating to work with those creative guys who are also my best friends.

“Banji’s new one will have you harkening back to the days of Beck, Cake and early Weezer. You’ll spastically dance as the Dutch group crash guitar fuzz into a wall of synths and gleefully watch the chaos ensue.”

MUSIC composition and production
Palmsy makes energetic guitar driven indie pop songs with influences from the Strokes, Darwin Deez and Circa Waves. PALMSY consists of Morris Brandt (vocals, guitar) Gilles van Wees, (guitar) Pim van der Meulen (drums) and Ties Bogers (bass), who meet at the Herman Brood Academy.
In the spring of 2017 Palmsy released their EP ‘Lost In A Cardboard Box’. After this release we did a clubtour in The Netherlands and played a lot of festivals such as Sziget Festival (HU) and Down The Rabbit Hole (NL). Our first single ‘Ambulance’ was on the playlist of several dutch radiostations and we became 3FM Talent.
The band started at the Herman Brood Academy where all band members were studying. In Palmsy I played the guitar and supported main songwriter Morris Brandt in composing songs.

Radio Eliza’s alternative electro pop sound features influences from artists such as The Wombats, Phoenix and MGMT. Live they let a tidal wave of energy flow into the room.
The first EP was called ‘Intergalactic Furby Furby’. These tracks were produced by Jurriaan Sielcken. The first single ‘Kids’ received a lot of attention from radiostation 3FM and the band was chosen as 3FM talent and played on national Dutch TV. As a result, the band has played many festivals such as Concert At Sea, Liberation Festivals and Noorderslag.
In Radio Eliza I played percussion, samples and keys. Next to that I was part of the composers of the group.

The Brahms recorded and released two subsequent EP’s within two years, winning multiple awards (3FM Award Best Alternative, Sena Performers PopNL Award, UtrechtPopprijs etc.) and gaining substantial airplay for their first four singles (Golden, Homerun, Shoulder Blades and Feels Like Home).
In 2018 the band released their debut album ‘Me And My Damn Dreams’. After this release I joined the band as a session musician and performed with them during their festival season. We played festivals like: Paaspop Festival, Mañana Mañana Festival and Central Park Festival. After the festival season I joined them on their clubtour and their support act of Kensington in Ziggo Dome. Please see in the video below a live footage of the clubshow in Paard (The Hague).
